Education-specific categories
Categories such as Education and School Cheating help you build policies appropriate for children using the Internet.

SafeSearch enforcement
Override individual browser settings and enforce the Safe Search feature offered by many popular search engines. The Safe Search feature blocks both text and images containing explicit sexual content from appearing in search results.

Authorized override
Enables administrator to give authorized individuals the ability to override filtering settings for a specified period of time. Ideal for those that periodically require unfettered access, but want to maintain control.

Filter by user or group
Administrators have the flexibility to assign filters based on multiple criteria. For example, a lab with several workstations might be filtered by IP or IP range and assigned the highest level of filtering, while that same organization might assign a less restrictive filter set to an individual or group.

Exempt policy action
This feature provides you the ability to let users view sites that fit into a particular category, regardless of other categories that may be set to Block. For example, you may want to block nudity but allow it when it is art or health.

Delegated administration
Distribute control of filtering administration throughout your network. Give local administrators greater control over defining filters, assigning filters to IP ranges and assigning filtering override privileges. Perfect for large networks or any network where one centralized point of administration is not practical. The delegated administration feature is currently available on the SmartFilter DA, Bess edition platform running on certain Linux platforms.
